Cybersecurity

Security work, plus a home lab.

I hold CompTIA Security+, I've done security and access-control work in healthcare and community settings, and I run a home lab built around zero-trust access and isolation.

Certifications

CompTIA Security+ CE

Issued January 2026, valid through January 2029.

Linux Fundamentals

Certificate.

Google Data Analytics

Professional Certificate. See the data analysis case study.

Certification goals

Security+ is earned. These CompTIA certifications are what I'm working toward next. I haven't earned them yet.

  • Network+
  • CySA+
  • PenTest+
  • Linux+
  • DataSys+
  • Cloud+
  • CASP+

Home lab

A Raspberry Pi that I run and maintain myself.

  • Zero-trust remote access: Tailscale VPN.
  • Containers: a Docker stack running Nextcloud and a MariaDB database.
  • Segmentation and firewall rules: network segmentation with firewall rules between services.
  • Malware analysis isolation: container isolation for examining suspicious files.
  • Data pipeline: a Python and Streamlit app that reads from a live MariaDB backend.

Security work

  • Access control: redesigned multi-factor authentication for a hospital HR system serving more than 10,000 employees under HIPAA. Unauthorized access fell 30%, and two audit cycles closed with zero findings.
  • Security operations: kept incident logs (100+ a quarter), spotted recurring access patterns and flagged them to management, and supported the onboarding of new staff on security procedures.
